September Beginners Classes

Posted by Andy Walker on August 6, 2008

We have decided not to run a Derby beginners class this September. Instead the next induction will take place during Easter 2009. The reason for this is that the Derby class is very popular and is currently hitting its limits in terms of the number of students attending. We feel that increasing the size of the class further with more beginners will compromise the standard of teaching offered. As a consequence training at Derby will concentrate on developing the skills of existing students.

The good news is that there will still be a beginners class starting at the Long Eaton Club. The first induction date will be September 24th 2008. The induction period will run for 6 weeks.

Anybody who wanted to train at Derby has the option to start at Long Eaton instead. Once you have reached a set level of skill (your instructor will tell you), you will be invited to join the Derby club. At this point, you will have the choice of training at either or both clubs.

Another option for beginners is to take private lessons with us. These are usually one-on-one with your instructor. Private lessons could be taken until you have the necessary skills to join in at Derby.

We apologise for any disappointed this causes for people who wanted to start at Derby this September, but our teaching policy is "quality over quantity", which I'm sure you'll appreciate is the best policy to have!
