Start Dates

The Derby club only takes beginners on at set six month intervals. All other clubs take in beginners all year round. The following table indicates when the next intake starts. Where a phone number is displayed, please call the number to find out exactly when you can start.

When a beginners class starts at Derby, it runs for six weeks. You are only entitled to join during those first six weeks. After that time new starters will be turned away. We have found through experience that this is the fairest way to run the class and maintain the highest levels of teaching. The beginners windows is small so keep your eyes on this site!

What to Wear

There is no special clothing to buy. Come in a dark t-shirt, tracksuit/kungfu bottoms and trainers. We do sell club t-shirts but these are not mandatory.

What it costs

The Derby beginners class costs £5 per lesson. After the first six weeks it increases to £6. Prices vary at other clubs. Please contact us for pricing information.

After a few months we ask for the annual membership fee of £30. This membership fee includes martial arts insurance.
